Why now

The data AI needs most is sitting in ordinary businesses.

Public text has run dry

The open web has been read many times over. What models still lack is the record of real jobs carried out from start to finish.

Work leaves a trail

A quote, the follow-ups, the fix and the invoice: your systems hold the whole arc of a task, which is what AI needs to learn to carry one out.

Consent is the new standard

Buyers increasingly want records licensed from the owner under contract and cleaned of personal details, not scraped without permission.

Timing matters. The first datasets from an industry move models the most, so early sellers in a niche tend to command higher prices than those who follow.

What buyers license

From inbox to invoice, it all counts.

How your team asks, answers, decides and follows up.

How it works

Four steps, and you decide at each one.

  1. 1

    Estimate

A handful of questions about headcount, history and tools. You see a range on the spot.

  2. 2

    Match

We line your profile up against what buyers are actively licensing and pick the strongest fits.

  3. 3

    Meet buyers

We introduce you to the buyers that fit. You compare scope and terms and sign with the one you prefer.

  4. 4

    Scope, clean, close

The buyer strips identities from an agreed export, you check the cleaned copy, and payment follows delivery.

Privacy and control

You stay in charge of what's shared.

You set the boundaries

Choose the systems, the date ranges and anything that's off limits before a single file is exported.

Identities are stripped

People, companies, addresses and account details are swapped for consistent placeholders, so the work still reads clearly but nobody can be named.

Client work is carved out

Anything a client owns, or a contract keeps confidential, is excluded from the deal.

Use is fenced in

The license spells out what the buyer may do, typically training and testing AI models, and nothing beyond it.

Example: one dispatch email, before and after

Original

From: dana.ortiz@northpeakhvac.com · To: Greg Hollis

Greg, the Lindqvist job at 1182 Harbor Rd needs a second compressor. Quote is $4,860 and the card ending 4417 is on file. Can you book Thursday?

What the buyer receives

From: Employee 7 · To: Employee 12

Employee 12, the Customer 52 job at Address 19 needs a second compressor. Quote is $4,860 and Payment method is on file. Can you book Thursday?

The work and the decisions stay intact. Who was involved does not.

Why Arbor Data

Shop your data, not just one buyer.

01

More than one door

Buyers specialize by industry and system. One passing on you says little about the rest, so we put you in front of several.

02

Your call, every time

Which offer to take, on what terms, or whether to take one at all is always up to you.

03

Nothing out of your pocket

When a deal closes, the buyer may pay us a finder's fee on top. Your company's payout is untouched.

The terms

What to expect, in one place.

Cost to you
Nothing. No fees, no retainer.
Who pays
The buyer pays your company directly.
Commitment
None until you sign with a buyer.
Ownership
Yours. Buyers license a cleaned copy.
Exclusivity
Depends on the buyer; you'll know before signing.
Payment
Typically after delivery, often within 30–60 days.

A strong fit usually has

  • 20 or more staff, now or at its peak
  • Three or more years of history in its systems
  • Email, chat, CRM, accounting or trade software
  • Mostly US-based, English-language records

Operating, acquired and closed companies can all qualify.

FAQ

Straight answers before you start.

Are companies really being paid for this?+

Yes. AI developers and the firms that supply them license operating records from established businesses, and a number of them publish what they've paid. The deal figures above come from those published examples.

What makes our records valuable to AI labs?+

Models know a lot about the world but little about how a job actually gets done day to day. Your threads, tickets and records show requests, judgment calls and outcomes, which is what labs need to train AI to handle real work.

Do you buy the data?+

No. We match you with buyers and introduce you. The agreement and the payment are between your company and the buyer you pick.

Is there a fee?+

Not for you. A buyer may pay us a finder's fee when a deal closes, and it doesn't reduce what your company receives.

Do we still own our data afterwards?+

Yes. A buyer licenses a cleaned copy for AI work. Your originals, your systems and the way you run the business stay exactly as they are.

What happens to customer and employee details?+

They're swapped for placeholders before the data is used, and nothing is exported until you've signed off on the scope. Ask any buyer for their de-identification process; reputable ones will show you.

Could a buyer use our data against us?+

Licenses restrict use to training and testing AI models. Models pick up general patterns of how work is done, not your customer list or your price sheet.

How much of our time will this take?+

About a minute for the estimate. After that, expect a call and a few hours from whoever looks after your systems to scope and export the data.

We're not sure what records we have. Is that a problem?+

Not at all. Tell us which tools your team uses; buyers help work out which records are useful while scoping the deal.

How much might we be paid, and when?+

Published deals for firms of roughly 50–100 people range from about $275K to $650K, and bigger companies can earn more. Payment usually follows delivery.

Who is a good fit?+

Most buyers want at least 20 staff and three years of history in your systems. Companies that have been acquired or have closed down can still take part.

Can law firms and medical practices take part?+

Often, with extra care: client consent for legal matter files, and HIPAA-grade de-identification for anything involving patients.

Can we back out later?+

Walk away whenever you like until a contract is signed. An estimate or an introduction doesn't oblige you to anything.
